Meet Ilona Glinarsky!

Originally from Kyiv, Ukraine, she is no stranger to music and dance. Growing up in the former Soviet Union she was exposed to dance and music from the age of four. More than a dancer, she’s a classically trained pianist with a deep understanding and appreciation for music and rhythm. Prior to her immigration to the US in 1979, she was trained to accompany dancers with the world-renowned Ukrainian dance troupe, Virsky Ukranian Dance Ensemble. This is where she developed her true passion and reverence for discipline, form and creative expression, qualities that set all great dancers apart from the rest.

Los Angeles is lucky to have such a passionate community builder with a world-class background as a resident. SoCal folks, (and visitors too), have ample opportunities to have fun learning and enjoying the somatic art of Argentine Tango. More than just a ‘partner dance’, Argentine Tango embodies the elements of connection, mindfulness, improvisation, and non-verbal communication.

Ilona and her team host monthly events, weekly classes, and special productions in the LA area. Check out Tango FUNdamentals and Practica every Tuesday night in Torrance and the special 2-hour Beginner Argentine Tango Bootcamp this coming Friday night, July 7th!.
