The Expressive Body in a Life/Art Process with
Daria Halprin, Natan Daskal, and Dohee Lee.
June 23 – 27th
Mt. Madonna Retreat Center
Watsonville, CA
Now and throughout history, movement, dance and the expressive arts grant us a means of expression that is healing; these timeless creative practices connect us with ourselves and our communities. This workshop will generate opportunities to discover ways to empower the wisdom of your somatic self to meaningfully impact your regular life. The methods and models of our practice will be gently and clearly taught in order to expand creativity, psychological insight and embodiment.

This workshop offers a contemplative break from our sometimes unexplored habitual selves. There will be space to actively feel and listen deeply to the powerful intelligence of our bodies, to play and express with our hearts and imaginations through the Tamalpa Life/Art Practice. Movement/dance, drawing, poetic dialogue, individual and group dance, reflective writing, and performative sharing will generate new thresholds of expression, inquiry, improvisation, and cultivate new inner resources.

You will SENSE, FEEL, and IMAGINE your way into your EMBODIED awareness and creative resources. You will take time to LISTEN to the powerful intelligence of your body, while you PLAY and EXPRESS your imagination through the arts. You will CREATE meaningful personal and collective dances. You will explore the stories you tell yourself; your challenges, questions, doubts, and certainties will provide the material for your explorations. The guiding structure of the Tamalpa Life/Art Practice will bring thoughtful, new vision to the life themes that most matter to you.
