Happy Tuesday everybody! For those of you on my list that live in the good old US of A, I trust that you made the most of the big celebrations marking the 240th anniversary of our very own Brexit.

The 4th of July is always a good time to ponder the meaning of freedom and independence, so whether you spent the day at a barbecue, parade, or family gathering, I hope you found plenty to be grateful for and kept your fingers out of the fireworks.

For me, this holiday marks the existential midpoint of the year. The build up of spring and early summer is behind us, and the shortening days mean fall is on the way. It’s a good time to check in with ourselves and see if we are on track with our goals for the year and to take stock in general. We are all on a path of personal development, whether we would like to admit it or not. It seems like the spiral leads either up or down, and if it’s not, we’re just going around in circles.

One of my favorite ways to keep my mojo working is to constantly be learning and teaching. I’ve been learning a lot about how to be an effective coach and consultant for different kinds of people, so besides keeping my clients on track with their goals and vision, I find myself eager to stay one step ahead with some of the things that we are learning.

It’s been said that one of the best ways to learn something is by teaching it, and I’m definitely finding that to be true. Whether it’s self-publishing, podcasting, blog posting, web design, list building, newsletter marketing, or overall communications strategy, I’m getting a huge kick out of helping people reshape their presence and move forward towards their dreams.

What’s even more fun is when someone comes back later and shares their success story with me! On Saturday, I was delighted to be taken out to lunch by my aspiring filmmaker friend K.T. Walker, (in the center of the selfie above, with writer friend Jess Gibson).

She’s moving to LA next week for a full-time job with a major distribution firm, positioning herself strategically with a major gatekeeper in the industry that fully supports her desire to become a major player in the filmmaking world.

Shortly after I met her nearly 5 years ago, while she was a film student at the Academy of Art in San Francisco, I connected her with a producer friend of mine who gave her her first real internship in the industry. That led to a three-year paid position with a noted film Institute, which was the springboard to the gig in Hollywood that she just landed.

I recognized right off the bat that she was a go-getter with success written all over her. She used my house as a set for one of her student projects, and had her crew rousted by the sheriff filming late one evening at the end of my cul-de-sac. It made me so happy and grateful to have her circle back with thanks for my small role in her journey before she embarks on the next round of her spiral upwards!

On that inspiring note, I wish you a very happy week! May your dreams continue to unfold with the ease and grace!

DANCE FIRST MEDIA PARTNER SPOTLIGHT – The Sacred Sounds of MaMuse & Ecstatic Films Live Recording Concert Series

MaMuse1000px

This is an event series in the North Bay that you definitely want to know about, especially if you’re a fan of super high-vibe sacred music, and ultra high-fidelity sound and production.

Our good friend and supporter Ken Martini and his wife Denise are pillars of the Bay Area conscious dance world, bringing the Nirvana Cabana to NCDC’s Dance Camp, and long-time hosts of Berkeley’s Dance Journey, (which is now Dance Jam once again that I’m carrying the torch for).

More recently they’ve launched a live sacred music recording session series at their home studio in Sonoma, and this coming Saturday evening, from 6 to 8pm on July 9th, they’re holding space for a live recording event with MaMuse, the nationally acclaimed duo comprised of Sarah Nutting and Karisha Longaker.

‘Ma’ (as in Mama) and ‘Muse’ (as in one who inspires) creates more than just music. Prepare to experience an intimate evening of story, song, and connection, set in the tapestry of the felt senses. Their story-songs unfold with remarkable harmonies, original songwriting, and adept abilities on a variety of stringed instruments.

Plan a day trip to wine country and the charming historic town of Sonoma, and cap off your day with a spectacular sacred music session with conscious community. I highly recommend this event!
