Monday Loving your years-end voyage and Dancing your Journey to Costa Rica

How far do you have to zoom out to see the big picture? What does it take for you to really get perspective on life? Does it help to sometimes back out into the macro to come to terms with the micro?

This is the last Monday Love of 2016! The turning of the calendar is often a good time to take stock and review our lives from the broadest view possible. It’s a time of the year when many of us are spending time with our closest relations, which can provide a valuable reflection on our own place in the world and the mark we’re making in the universe.

Regardless of where we’re heading, we have a family of origin somewhere. Our family of affinity can point to our future, but it’s our ancestors and those countless generations that came before us that reveal our roots. How far back do our roots go? And where do we really fit into the grand scheme of the universe?

The image above shows what our sun and solar system look like in motion. (There’s a better video representation here). We’ve always been shown the sun hanging still in space with the orbits of the planets in nice even rings, but the reality is not like that at all. In fact, we are hurtling though the cosmos at the rate of 330 miles per second, and the planets, including our home the earth, are following along in spiral patterns forming a vortex behind the sun.

The fact that will likely cause you to pause and wonder is this. The shape and radius of the spiral that our earth forms as we flow though space is an exact match to the double-helix spiral of our own DNA.Coincidence? Who knows. It’s discoveries like this that convince me that we are living in a reality of wonders far beyond our comprehension. Will we ever really know the answers? Does it actually matter?

One thing is for sure. We are rare possessors of a particular form of consciousness in this vast timeless universe. And the key to our brand of consciousness is love. Love is where the electric energy of the masculine meets the magnetic energy of the feminine to form the next generations DNA in our primordial family of origin. Sometimes divine and exalted, other time star-crossed and ill-fated, regardless of circumstances we start with a spark that sets our spiral in motion on our dance through life.

The more we learn about space and the universe, the more it becomes apparent that the immortal words of J.S. Haldane, often re-phrased by Terence McKenna hold true. “The universe is not only stranger than we imagine, it is stranger than we can imagine.” So if one one hand we are faced with an infinite mystery, on the other we hold a universal truth. And that is that love lives at the root of consciousness, and that by asking ourselves questions like “What would love do?” we are likely choosing the highest path.

I invite you to step back and ponder the largest questions and the deepest mysteries as another tiny year on our small and green world spins by, (this Q & A thread about space on Quora is a great place to start). And ask yourself what you can do in your own little corner of the universe to bring more light and love into your day-to-day life, and how you can make a more loving contribution to yourself and the people around you.

Wishing you the brightest light and the biggest love in the year ahead!
