“ You’re in pretty good shape for the shape you’re in. ”

 ~ Dr. Seuss

What is something that really helps you appreciate your good health and vitality? Something that makes you realize how important it is to take care of yourself? A reminder not to take your well-being for granted?

This sort of reminder can take many forms, but let me tell you, there’s nothing like catching the flu!  Yep, that’s right, after a near perfect record of nary a sniffle nor positive Covid test in the past three years, I finally picked up a flu bug somewhere this weekend.

Honestly, I had almost forgotten what it is like to be under the weather! But we had a big buildup to this past weekend which, flu bug or not, turned out great.

And what was this weekend you might ask? The annual Gifty open house and arts and crafts sale at The Crucible. It was the second year in a row for my sweetheart Isabelle to present her handcut wooden jigsaw puzzles to the public, since launching Puzzlapy in the fall of ‘21.

Gifty is amazing, it brings out several dozen of the Bay Area’s foremost artisans and artists to display and vend their wares and brings thousands of people through The Crucible over the course of the weekend.

This year‘s event happened to coincide with our first seriously cold and wet winter weekend, and the 100,000 sq ft of The Crucible’s concrete floor is anything but warm. So, mask mandate and vax check at the door notwithstanding, somewhere along the way I picked up a little passenger who is currently residing inside me, so I have a mild case of what is typically known as the flu. (Thankfully not Covid, I checked!)

If I could simply sleep 24 hours a day until it runs its course, that would be great. But, alas, I am doing my best to stay cozy and hydrated until I feel like myself once again.

Wishing you well until next Monday, and hoping that you make the most of appreciating your well-being, without being put under the weather!

Much love till next Monday!
