The International Association for Creative Dance presents “Dancing the Winds of Change” at Hampshire College, Amherst, MA
Intro Workshop June 22-23
Dance Congress June 23-28
“How do you make a dance?
You let one movement grow out of another with your whole self in it. And the more your body, your emotions, your mind, your spirit are all integrated in it, the more alive it will be, the more meaning it will have.” ~ Barbara Mettler

The International Association for Creative Dance was founded in 1996 with the purpose of promoting the development of creative dance, based upon the free approach to the art of body movement pioneered by Barbara Mettler.

The IACD is committed to continuing, broadening and strengthening the field of Mettler-based creative dance. Members include teachers, artists, dancers, therapists, clergy, recreational leaders and others, who comprise a worldwide community of people whose lives have been touched by the wonder and power of this approach to dance.

IACD’s Annual Creative Dance Congress provides many people with diverse backgrounds the opportunity to deepen their experience of dance improvisation as pioneered by dance educator Barbara Mettler. The Congress offers dancers with some experience of Mettler-based dance a week to explore and expand ways to create movements alone and with others.

The Introductory Workshop, taught by Kyla Ferguson, is required for those who wish to attend the Congress, if they have no previous Mettler experience. The Intro Workshop is an opportunity to learn the basic elements of Mettler-based dance improvisation, and is open to all levels.
