This week’s Dance First Member Insight is brought to you by Madrona MindBody Institute in Port Townsend, Washington. Dance First members are sharing their insights and inspirations during this troubled time, as well as how they are coping. Plus links to live streams and online offerings for you.

Dear Dancers

We miss you moving in our space, we miss the easy connection and community on our Ballroom dance floor, we miss this freedom in our lives in every way. Madrona MindBody excels at bringing people together from all over the Northwest, the US, and the world with residential programming in the beautiful natural setting of the oceanfront WA State Park that we are located in. The State Parks are closed and everything is exceedingly quiet  around Madrona. It is a true time for natural reflection of a calm peacefulness. While nature continues as normal, perhaps even better than normal, we have cancelled concerts, classes, workshops ~ the events that build richness in our lives and resources for the health of our bodies and minds.

Like so many others we have scrambled to come up to speed with how to offer classes online to keep our dedicated students moving and connected with each other. It feels so important in this time of tumult to be able to continue with the mindful and body centering practices that were our routine and to continue to be able to connect with people in any way possible. It has been a steep learning curve and a great deal of time to get online classes running well. This has been exciting with its challenges; jumping in to new ways of doing things is always dynamic and teaches us endless amounts about ourselves, our resiliency, our creativity, and our dedication to what we are passionate about. This is true on both sides of the screen, for the facilitator and the student. A bow down to all of you who are moving into new territories, exploring new ways of doing the things that you love and leaning in to the tools that you have learned over time to find grounding, relaxation, and good health in this time of change.

Madrona MindBody offers many of its daily classes on ZOOM now from our different teachers in Yoga, Soul Motion, Nia, African Dance, and Feldenkrais. We continue to strive to bring you movement to your living room.
