The 2026 Creative Dance Congress

IACD celebrates its 30th anniversary at this year’s Creative Dance Congress with the theme
“Looking Back, Moving Forward: Fearless Expression.” Grounded in the pioneering work of
Barbara Mettler and held at the University of Illinois, where Barbara also danced, we honor
both the foundation that shapes our dance and the vibrant community that carries this
work forward. Together, we will explore creative dance with fearless expression. We
welcome you to join us.

______

The International Association for Creative Dance (IACD) is a welcoming, diverse, and inclusive member-governed organization. We are a community of creative movers who practice, promote, develop, and apply a free approach to the art of body movement and dance improvisation as pioneered by Barbara Mettler.

We encourage the understanding and use of Mettler-based creative dance in diverse contexts such as community centers, elementary and secondary schools, colleges and universities, clinical settings including health care and wellness environments, places of worship, public parks, and dance studios.
