Esalen® Massage 175 – Hour Certification Course
We are pleased to invite you to join us for the first Esalen® Massage Training in Thailand.
Our base, Chiang Mai Holistic Studio,
It is the ideal place to learn the healing art of Esalen® Massage.
Each participant will stay in the city of Chiang Mai and learn Esalen massage as if they were living there.
Before, during or after your training, Chiang Mai invites you to explore cuisine, alternative wellness and shopping for uniquely Thai arts, crafts and clothing.
Where is the Esalen Institute and what is Esalen® Massage?
Big Sur, California, USA, is located in the Ventana Wilderness, 26 miles south of Carmel, 175 miles south of San Francisco, and 325 miles north of Los Angeles. It’s a truly remote location, accessible by car via Highway 1 or the Camino Real de California. The campus is located on the south side of Big Sur, approximately 40 miles south of Carmel.
Esalen Institute was founded and opened in 1962 by Michael Murphy and Richard Price. Their shared vision, begun as graduate students at Stanford University, included creating a residential retreat environment that would serve as a base for exploring the fusion of Eastern mysticism and Western pragmatism. Numerous explorations of human nature were presented by leading figures in the arts, humanities, comparative religion, philosophy, psychology, breathwork, plant and psychedelic medicine, Gestalt therapy, somatic therapy, yoga, and other movement arts. And touch. Thus, the Human Potential Movement was born.

Notable figures who visited or lived at Esalen shared their work and influenced Esalen massage practitioners and teachers throughout the 1970s and 1980s. One of these teachers, Milton Trager, M.D., spent time at Esalen and developed his own bodywork technique, now known as the Trager® Approach. Simply put, the Tragerwork philosophy is to heal the body by shaking and mobilizing the 206 bones and 660 muscles in the human body, freeing them from muscle and bone constraints.

By learning to move and touch in three dimensions, the recipient feels energy and freedom in the body, not only in the joints but also in the deeper tissues of the muscles, fascia and organs.
The experience supports and guides the connection between mind, body, heart, mind and soul – oneness with yourself, your partner, the Earth and the universe.
Esalen Massage is a touch-based healing art and moving meditation.
It incorporates presence, breath awareness, quality of touch, depth of pressure, pauses for integration, and the practice of moving your own body while moving on the treatment table.
Incorporating elements of tai chi, yoga and dance, our skilled practitioners will deliver a session that will captivate the minds of those who watch.

How will your Esalen
This program is aimed at people who are physically and mentally healthy and have the ability to cooperate in group work.
Both men and women can participate.
Participation in both Modules 1 and 2 is a requirement.

6,000 US dollars (approximately 880,000 yen in Japanese yen) *Depending on the exchange rate at the time of payment
After receiving your application, please pay the full amount or deposit.
What is included in the course fee?
Training fees and venue fees are included.
Travel expenses to the venue, accommodation, and meals are not included.
Application and payment
・Payment can be made in one lump sum or in installments with a 100,000 yen advance payment.
(A deposit is deducted from the total amount, and the remaining amount is paid in two installments.)
About accommodation
We will introduce some hotels close to the training location to those who apply.
Please make your own reservations through a hotel agency such as Agoda.
If you would like to share a room, we will introduce you to other students who also wish to share a room.
*Prices start from 3,000 yen per night (depending on the hotel class you choose)
*If you wish, we can make reservations on your behalf for a fee.
Chiang Mai is a small city, and daily access to the training venue is easy from anywhere in the city .
The city is about a 20-minute taxi ride from Chiang Mai Airport.

Cancellation Policy】
In the event of cancellation, the following cancellation fees will be charged:
Cancellation up to 60 days prior to the course: Deposit only.
Cancellation between 30 and 60 days prior to the course: Deposit + 50% of the course fee.
Cancellation between 30 and 1 week prior to the course: Deposit + 70% of the course fee
. Cancellations made after this date will be subject to full course fee.
