Take this prerequisite course to prepare for Module I of the Embodiment in Education Teacher Certification Training.

The Embodiment Essentials course is a fun and inspiring introduction for educators of all levels to experience basic somatic practices, learn essential pedagogy principles, and build their own inner resources for both personal growth and professional development.

Note: This 25-hour workshop is now offered in a new online format.

Daily Schedule (Live online training via Zoom)
Saturday and Sunday
9:00am – 12:00pm (Pacific time) / 12:00pm – 3:00pm (Eastern time) / 6:00pm – 9:00pm (Central Europe)
plus 7 – 10 hours of additional participant cohort meetings and assignments

The full program will include:

  • Engaging in somatic movement practices in each session
  • 12 teaching lessons
  • Supplemental teaching materials
  • Adaptations to teaching with specific populations (such as dancers, athletes, middle and high school students)
  • Study cohort groups for review and discussion

Each program is limited to 12 participants to ensure time for individual questions and feedback, so register soon!

This course will also serve as your prerequisite to joining Module I of the Teacher Certification Training. Priority registration for Embodiment Essentials will be given for those interested in the Teacher Certification Program, though the course is open to all. Upon completion of all program requirements, you may receive a Certification of Completion.

Please note that you will need to complete the full program for the workshop to count as your prerequisite or to receive your Certificate.

Regular Tuition fee: $750
Early Registration: $695* (Apply by Sept. 6th and paid in full by Sept. 12th)

Registration is by application; $250 non-refundable deposit due with your applicationfull payment due upon acceptance. Request the address to pay by check or via Zelle, or add a 5% fee to each payment if paying by Paypal. (Your deposit minus a $25 application fee will be refunded if your application is not accepted).

    Susan Bauer (MFA, MSME/T, RSDE) is a teacher, dancer, author, Fulbright Scholar, and somatic educator and practitioner. Susan offers classes and workshops in Authentic Movement, experiential anatomy, and meditation. She is also the founder of Embodiment in Education(TM) and offers workshops and teacher trainings internationally.
    In her thirty-year career, Susan has taught in college and community settings, informed by her extensive background in dance, Authentic Movement, and Body-Mind Centering®. She began her study of Body-Mind Centering® with founder Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen in 1984 and is a Registered Master Somatic Movement Educator / Therapist and Registered Somatic Dance Educator through ISMETA. Other somatic disciplines in her background include study of Ideokinesis with Irene Dowd and Experiential Anatomy with Caryn McHose and Andrea Olsen, along with Laban/Bartenieff Fundamentals and the Feldenkrais Method. Susan served on the Board of Directors of ISMETA (International Somatic Movement Education and Therapy Association) from 2012 to 2015 and has a private practice in the San Francisco Bay area. Her unique approach integrates Authentic Movement, somatic movement education, and meditation as a basis for in-depth, conscious personal transformation.
