Bodywork is soul work. Imagination is the bridge between body and soul.” Marion Woodman

Artistic expression engages the body/mind in a way that promotes connection and integration: when we engage in embodied artmaking, our capacity to connect with self, with others, and the world expands, leading to an improved quality of life.

Join Dr. Rosario Sammartino for a workshop series to explore a variety of Tamalpa Life/Art Process methods that support body/mind connection, creative expression and integration. Through interactive lectures and experiential activities, participants will learn to incorporate these approaches into their work as a therapist or as forms of self-care. Dr. Sammartino draws upon her twenty-year experience as a Somatic Movement therapist and educator, including her recent research-based work that explores the value of combined somatic and artistic approaches for trauma healing.

This course is designed for therapists, educators and individuals who want to incorporate the embodied creativity of the arts into their personal lives and/or professional practice. No previous dance or art experience is required.

Educational Goals

Upon completion of this workshop series participants will be able to:

  1. Cultivate and expand body-mind connection and expression abilities.
  2. Understand how to use the interplay between movement, images, cognitive and emotional expression as a therapeutic & self-care tool.
  3. Appreciate the healing power of movement and the arts to connect and celebrate humanity beyond diverse cultures, gender, body types, and limitations.
